While visiting La Quinta, CA recently, I captured some photographs of various birds amongst the palms, including this Cooper's Hawk. Given the predatory nature of this accipiter, the title of this painting seems apt.  Any small to medium-sized bird not frightened by this active hawk is simply not using its "bird brain."  The abstract patterning of the palm fronds was a big part of what attracted me to this subject.
