The last time I visited the Skagit Wildlife Area, I spotted this handsome creature not more than twenty feet above me in an old dead tree. the  He posed there for a good half hour, giving me ample opportunity to gather photo reference for a painting, once back in my studio.  I found the dead tree as interesting as the eagle and enjoyed trying to capture its character in watercolor.  Bald Eagles are wonderful birds with wingspans approaching seven feet!  I love seeing them, except when they're stealing a trout from the end of my fly line.  Three made the attempt recently and the score was, eagle 2, fisherman 1.
